Thinking on Easter…

The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the very heart-beat of Christianity.

It is not a denominational issue or a point of Theological contention. It is not a gray area wherein we are afforded a certain amount of liberty in our interpretation. Without it there would be no New Testament, no Church and certainly no Christianity. The whole of the faith hinges on this one statement; either He rose from the grave and ascended to heaven or He did not.

Apart from the resurrection there is no “good news” and we have no reason to believe.

If Christ has not been resurrected then our preaching is made void(1 Cor 15:14).

If Christ has not been resurrected then our faith is in vain(1 Cor 15:14).

If Christ has not been resurrected then we have become false witnesses of God(1 Cor 15:15)

If Christ has not been resurrected then we are still in our sin and those who have fallen asleep have actually perished(1 Cor 15:18)

If Christ has not been resurrection then we above all people are most to be pitied(1 Cor 15:19).

“The Gospels do not explain the Resurrection; the Resurrection explains the Gospels.”

Read the four accounts and the book of Acts and you cannot help but see that the resurrection is the foundation and fuel behind everything the disciples accomplished. They were consumed with an amazing truth – the resurrection of Christ. The truth of the resurrection is the only thing that can explain the extraordinary behavior of those simple and timid followers of Jesus! “The Gospels do not explain the Resurrection; the Resurrection explains the Gospels.”

The resurrection is history’s most significant claim.

The validity of Jesus’ claims about Himself rest on the resurrection and our eternal state and residence depend on it.

Thanks for your kindness, Annabelle. For the cross xeuttre, just use two colors of brown. Outline and flood with one and then immediately add the lines and swiggles with the other brown while the flood is still wet. :) Happy Resurrection Day to you!
